I have a background in education and a passion for creativity. My unique beginnings help my designs stand out. I am always trying something new. I discovered a passion for color, an interest in type, and a love of logo designs. I am also refining my use of the twelve-column grid and gestalt principles. I hope to move into UX/UI and demographics.

website Design

This project started as a poster design for a local performing artist.  I decided to expand it into an entire branding campaign, including a responsive web page, business card, and, of course, the poster.  In order to accomplish this, I used InDesign, Xd, and Webstorm.  One of the most challenging elements of this design was the layout.  I had to figure out how to maintain the various elements while keeping the text large enough to read.  Learning how to code both a background image and a gradient turned out to be a graceful solution.

Colorology This was one of my first designs performed in Axure. Since it is geared toward children, it uses bright colors and little text. It is meant for teachers to use as an introductory activity to color theory. The animations engage children while the information bubbles get them thinking about color in a new way. I like this project because I had to learn many of the animations myself. Even though it is not responsive, I learned a lot about layout and interaction between pages.

website Design

This was one of my most recent designs and quite a challenge.  It utilitized php, but thankfully the code was provided to me.  I only had to adapt it for my own purpose.  Using someone else’s code was a challenge because it used their layout.  It wasn’t formatted for my mockups.  I also learned the importance of checking your work.  After putting my colors through a validator, I totally reworked my color palate.  It turned out to be one of my best choices.
