As Executive Creative Director, Joe Monnens is a creative pro with 20 plus years of experience, including his prior four years at ICF Olson, leading our design team before returning as our Executive Creative Director. He currently focuses on integrated brand experiences, digital and our collective creative mindset. His client list includes Saucony, Sharp, Belize Tourism Board, Hisense, Commerce Bank, Cameron’s Coffee, Target, Radisson Blu, Pei Wei, and Discover Boating.

Prior to Olson, Joe spent time at Duffy Design, Fallon, Colle+McVoy, Fame and Mirum where he had the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most highly regarded brands, including Nuveen Investments, Indian Motorcycles, Take Me Fishing, Nestle, Purina, Caribous Coffee, K2 Skates, Mammoth Mountian, International Trucks, TIMEX, Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cenex.

In his spare time, Joe is an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and golfing. He’s known for his unique sense of style, which includes a large collection of Crocs.

TARI JOHNSON

Tari Johnson has been a Senior Art Director, Art Director and Graphic Designer since 2000. She started her career working in editorial for MSP COMMUNICATIONS directing and designing publications including Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, Mpls.St.Paul Weddings, Mpls.St.Paul Shops, Postcards for Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Viking Magazine

She later moved on to the position of Senior Art Director for luxury brands and non-promotional material for MACY’S. She developed and designed campaigns across multiple platforms for the Minnesota, Detroit and Chicago regions.

After Macy’s headquarters left Minneapolis, Tari worked in a few local agencies gaining more digital, video and client experience including employee engagement leader, BI WORLDWIDE.

Tari currently works at Evine, directing video, print and online campaigns and also maintains her own business selling clutch purses featuring her ink and watercolor art pieces at ravinamoto.com

The school is easily accessible by public transportation and offers affordable parking through the MCTC Parking Ramp. The ramp is located at 1420 Hennepin Avenue S, Minneapolis, Minnesota on the north side of Hennepin Avenue.

Directional signs will be located at all main entrances.

Web and Interactive Media

The Graphic Design: Web and Interactive Media program provides the fundamentals for a career in Web design. The program prepares students to use industry-standard software to create designed Web interactive and print design productions.

Coursework is taught by experienced faculty members, and covers visual problem solving, art and design principles and production standards.

Students will learn how visual elements such as type, illustration, graphics, photography and animation combine to make effective designs, and also work under tight deadlines to design, compose and produce a well-rounded portfolio necessary for entry into the profession.

Graphic Design Associate of Arts Degree:

Print Media

MCTC’s Graphic Design program centers on the place where words meet images, where clear and purposeful communication meets aesthetic impact and where a range of human needs and desires reside.

This program's experienced faculty members teach students how to visually communicate and prepare work for printed reproduction of catalogs, brochures, book jackets, advertisements, packaging and more.

Coursework covers visual problem solving, art/design principles and print production standards using design software. Students will learn how type, graphics, illustration and photography work together, and work under tight deadlines to create printed pieces and build a well-rounded portfolio.
